      "@value" : "Our aim was to investigate the effect of proTα(100-109) and proTα on basic \nfunctions of innate immune cells and the development/evaluation of an \nimmunoassay for the extracellular determination of proTα(100-109). The \nactivation of neutrophils and monocytes with proTα(100-109) or proTα enhanced \ntheir basic functions and restored their suppressed functions in cancer \npatients. Using the developed ELISA, we determined the proTα(100-109) \nconcentration in vitro in apoptotic supernatants, in vivo in mouse models of \nbacterial infections and ex vivo in human sera. Increased levels of proTα(100-\n109) were recorded in apoptotic supernatants, while in mice the levels were low \nprior to infection and in the majority of the models increased gradually during \nthe progress of the infection. Finally, we measured the levels of proTα(100-\n109) in sera of healthy individuals, pediatric patients and ICU patients. \nProTα(100-109) levels were low in healthy individuals and in children with \nautoinflammatory diseases, but increased significantly in infected children. In \nICU samples, we recorded variations in the proTα(100-109) concentrations during \nthe course of bacterial infections, according to each patient’s clinical \nsymptoms, while proTα(100-109) concentration was minimal in non-infected \npatients. ProTα(100-109) acts as an adjuvant on neutrophils and monocytes and \ncan discriminate septic from aseptic inflammation."

      "@value" : "Σκοπός ήταν η διερεύνηση της επίδρασης του προΤα(100-109) και της προΤα σε \nβασικές λειτουργίες κυττάρων της φυσικής ανοσίας και η ανάπτυξη/αξιολόγηση \nανοσοδοκιμασίας, για τη μέτρηση του προΤα(100-109) εξωκυτταρικά. Η ενεργοποίηση \nουδετερόφιλων και μονοκυττάρων με προΤα(100-109) ή προΤα ενίσχυσε τις βασικές \nτους λειτουργίες και επανέφερε τις κατασταλμένες λειτουργίες τους σε \nκαρκινοπαθείς. Με την αναπτυχθείσα ELISA, προσδιορίστηκε η συγκέντρωση του \nπροΤα(100-109) in vitro σε αποπτωτικά υπερκείμενα, in vivo σε μοντέλα \nβακτηριακών λοιμώξεων σε ποντίκια και ex vivo σε ανθρώπινους ορούς. Τα επίπεδα \nτου προΤα(100-109) καταγράφηκαν αυξημένα στα αποπτωτικά υπερκείμενα, ενώ στα \nποντίκια ήταν χαμηλά πριν τη μόλυνση και αυξήθηκαν σταδιακά κατά την πρόοδο της \nλοίμωξης στα περισσότερα μοντέλα. Τέλος, μετρήθηκαν τα επίπεδα του προΤα(100-\n109) σε ορούς υγιών ατόμων, παιδιατρικών ασθενών και ασθενών της ΜΕΘ. Τα \nεπίπεδα του προΤα(100-109) ήταν χαμηλά σε υγιή άτομα και παιδιά με \nαυτοφλεγμονώδη νοσήματα, ενώ αυξήθηκαν σημαντικά σε παιδιά με λοιμώξεις. Στα \nδείγματα της ΜΕΘ, καταγράφηκαν διακυμάνσεις στη συγκέντρωση του προΤα(100-109) \nκατά την πορεία νοσηλείας ασθενών με βακτηριακές λοιμώξεις, ανάλογα με την \nκλινική εικόνα, ενώ η συγκέντρωσή του ήταν ελάχιστη σε περιστατικά χωρίς σημεία \nλοίμωξης. Το προΤα(100-109) δρα ανοσοενισχυτικά σε ουδετερόφιλα και \nμονοκύτταρα, ενώ φαίνεται ότι διαφοροδιαγιγνώσκει τη σηπτική από την άσηπτη \nφλεγμονή."
