Τα είδη \nCodringtonia έχουν ενταχθεί στους κόκκινους καταλόγους των απειλούμενων ζώων. \nΚατανέμονται κυρίως στην Ελλάδα και εμφανίζουν μωσαϊκό πρότυπο κατανομής. Ο \nενδημισμός του γένους, η μωσαϊκότητα της κατανομής των ειδών, η μικρή χωρική \nκλίμακα της διαφοροποίησης του και οι ιδιαιτερότητες του βιολογικού του κύκλου, \nκαθιστούν το γένος αυτό ένα από τα πιο ενδιαφέροντα γένη χερσαίων γαστεροπόδων \nτου Ελλαδικού χώρου. Από πού, πότε, με ποιό τρόπο και με τι «εφόδια» και \nπροσαρμογές διαμόρφωσε αυτό το γένος τη σημερινή κατανομή του; Είναι ιστορικά ή \nοικολογικά τα αίτια που το οδήγησαν σε διαφοροποίηση, πώς αποκρίθηκαν τα είδη \nσε επίπεδο μορφολογίας και φυσιολογίας μέσα στο χώρο και στο χρόνο; Αυτά είναι \nμερικά από τα ερωτήματα που προσεγγίζονται στο πλαίσιο αυτής της διατριβής. \nΜέσα από μια συγκριτική μελέτη όλων των ειδών του γένους στηριζόμενη σε ένα \nφυλογενετικό πλαίσιο, γίνεται προσπάθεια να απαντηθούν αυτά τα ερωτήματα. Η \nσυγκεκριμένη μελέτη είναι μια συγκριτική μελέτη των ειδών Codringtonia σε \nεπίπεδο φυσιολογικών αποκρίσεων και μορφολογικής διαφοροποίησης και είναι η \nπρώτη συγκριτική μελέτη που γίνεται σε αυτή την ελάχιστα μελετημένη περιοχή της \nΕλλάδας. Ως εκ τούτου θέτει τις βάσεις για αντίστοιχες μελέτες που θα \nακολουθήσουν και θα αφορούν άλλες ομάδες οργανισμών."

      "@value" : "The genus Codringtonia (Gastropoda, Pulmonata) consists of eight species that \nare registered in the red list of endangered animals as vulnerable. \nCodringtonia species are distributed mainly in Greece and exhibit a mosaic \ndistributional pattern. The genus’ endemism, its mosaic distributional pattern, \nthe small spatial scale of its differentiation and its unusual life cycle, turn \nthe genus Codringtonia into one of the most interesting genera of terrestrial \ngastropods in Greece. From where, when, how and with what adaptations was its \ncurrent distribution formed? Are there historical or ecological causes that led \nto this diversification? How did species diversify at the morphological and \nphysiological level in space and time? These are some of the issues that this \nThesis is concerned with. Through a comparative framework, that contained all \nCodringtonia species I tried to address some of these concerns. This study is a \ncomparative study of the physiological adaptations and the morphological \nevolution of the shell and this is the first comparative study conducted in \nthis least studied region of Greece. Therefore, it sets a basis for similar \nstudies that will follow regarding other groups of organisms."
