      "@value" : "Παρά την αλματώδη πρόοδο που έχει επιτευχθεί στην παιδιατρική ογκολογία, δεν \nέχει παρατηρηθεί ανάλογη πρόοδος στους όγκους εγκεφάλου. Επίσης, μολονότι, έχει \nπραγματοποιηθεί πληθώρα μελετών σε εγκεφαλικά νεοπλάσματα της παιδικής ηλικίας, \nη μοριακή βάση τους εξακολουθεί να μην είναι πλήρως κατανοητή. Τα microRNAs \nσυνιστούν πιθανά σημαντικά υποψήφια μόρια-κλειδιά στην καρκινογένεση των \nεγκεφαλικών όγκων της παιδικής ηλικίας καθώς εμπλέκονται σε μία σειρά \nκυτταρικών διαδικασιών.\nΓια το λόγο αυτό, η παρούσα μελέτη επικεντρώνεται στη διερεύνηση των πιθανών \nδιαφορών στα επίπεδα έκφρασης των miRNAs μεταξύ ασθενών και ομάδας ελέγχου με \nσκοπό τη χρήση των διαφορικώς εκφραζόμενων miRNAs ως δυνητικά αξιόπιστους \nδιαγνωστικούς, προγνωστικούς και θεραπευτικούς στόχους.\nΤο υλικό της μελέτης αποτέλεσαν παιδιά με όγκο εγκεφάλου και αποθανόντα παιδιά \nχωρίς εγκεφαλική νεοπλασία που χρειάστηκαν νεκροτομή. Η πειραματική προσέγγιση \nπεριλάμβανε μικροσυστοιχίες κάλυψης 1211 miRNAs. Όλες οι πολυπαραμετρικές \nαναλύσεις πραγματοποιήθηκαν με το υπολογιστικό περιβάλλον MATLAB. Για την \nανάλυση των διαφορικώς εκφραζόμενων miRNAs μορίων χρησιμοποιήθηκε η \nβιβλιογραφική βάση δεδομένων Pubgene μεταξύ άλλων, με την οποία βρέθηκαν οι \nσυσχετίσεις των miRNAs με διάφορες παθήσεις και μοριακές λειτουργικές \nοντολογίες.\nΩς δυνητικοί δείκτες διάγνωσης και πρόγνωσης της νόσου αξιολογήθηκαν τα \nmiR-130a και miR-943 ενώ το miR-2355-5 αναδείχτηκε ως πιθανός δείκτης έγκαιρης \nδιάγνωσης κακοήθειας με ευνοϊκή πρόγνωση. Επιπροσθέτως, σημαντική προγνωστική \nαξία πιθανόν να έχουν τα miR-147, miR-409-3p, miR-487b, miR-642b miR-874, \nmiR-769-5p, miR-1267, miR-380, miR-3936, miR-483-3, ενώ γενικευμένες \nθεραπευτικές προσεγγίσεις ενδέχεται να αποτελούν τα miR-373, miR-508-3p, \nmiR-1197 και miR-218-1. Τέλος, τα miR-155, miR-130a, miR-17, miR-136, miR-22, \nmiR-224 και miR-23a αξιολογήθηκαν ως εν δυνάμει στόχοι εξατομικευμένης \nθεραπείας.\nΣυμπερασματικά, τα miRNAs δύναται να χρησιμοποιηθούν ως επιπλέον μοριακοί \nδείκτες διάγνωσης και πρόγνωσης της νόσου, καθώς και ως στόχοι για \nεξατομικευμένη θεραπεία των εγκεφαλικών νεοπλασμάτων της παιδικής ηλικίας."

      "@value" : "Αlthough, substantial experimental evidence related to the diagnosis and \ntreatment of pediatric brain tumors has been demonstrated, the understanding of \nthe etiology and pathogenesis of the disease remains scarce. Recent microRNA \n(miRNAs)-based research reveals the involvement of miRNAs in various aspects of \ncentral nervous system development and proposes that they might compose key \nmolecules underlying oncogenesis. The current study evaluated the miRNA \ndifferential expression detected between pediatric brain tumors and normal \ntissue controls to characterize candidate biomarkers related to diagnosis, \nprognosis and therapy. Overall, 19 resected tumors from children diagnosed with \nbrain tumor were studied. As controls, deceased children who underwent autopsy \nand did not present any brain malignancy were used (n=4 samples of varying \nlocalization). RNA extraction was carried out using the Trizol method, whilst \nmiRNA extraction was performed with the mirVANA miRNA isolation kit. The \nexperimental approach included microarrays covering 1211 miRNAs. The \nmultiparameter analyses were performed with MATLAB. For the analysis of \ndifferentially expressed miRNA molecules, the bibliographic database Pubgene \nwas used among others, according to which correlations were found between \nmiRNAs and various diseases and molecular functional ontologies. As potential \ndiagnostic and prognostic markers, miR-130a and miR-943 were evaluated, whilst \nmiR-2355-5 emerged as a candidate biomarker for the early diagnosis of \nmalignancies related to favorable prognosis. In addition, miR-147, miR-409-3p, \nmiR-487b, miR-642b miR-874, miR-769-5p, miR-1267, miR-380, miR-3936 and miR- \n483-3 could serve as significant prognostic markers, while miR-373, miR-508-3p, \nmiR-1197 and miR-218-1 might be used for generalised therapeutic approaches. \nFinally, miR-155, miR-130a, miR-17, miR-136, miR-22, miR-224 and miR-23a were \nevaluated as potential targets for individualized therapy. In conclusion, \ndeeper understanding of the aberrant miRNA expression in pediatric brain tumors \nmight aid in the development of tumor-specific miRNA signatures, which could \npotentially afford promising biomarkers related to diagnosis, prognosis and \npatient targeted therapy."
