Infection of a total joint arthroplasty is a rare complication (0.5% - 1.4%), which unfortunately, in the vast majority of the cases, is very difficult to treat successfully and is accompanied by significant morbidity and mortality.\n\tIn the present dissertation, all the current scientific and research data regarding the septic complications of total hip and knee arthroplasties will be studied and presented, with special emphasis on the ways of their successful treatment. In order to achieve this goal, a review of the current literature has been carried out, in the most important medical databases.\n\tThe main conclusion of the study is that currently, the clinicians are equipped with both diagnostic and therapeutic means and protocols in order to prevent this complication, to early diagnosis and thus to provide the appropriate treatment (combination of antibiotic administration and surgical procedures) so as to minimize the consequences." }, { "@language" : "el", "@value" : "Οι ολικές αρθροπλαστικές, κατά κύριο λόγο του ισχίου και του γόνατος, αποτελούν ίσως τις πιο επιτυχημένες επεμβάσεις της ειδικότητας της Ορθοπαιδικής και πραγματοποιούνται πλέον σε εκατομμύρια ασθενών κάθε χρόνο, προσφέροντας πολύ μεγάλη βελτίωση του επιπέδου της ζωής τους. Η λοίμωξη της ολικής αρθροπλαστικής, αποτελεί μία σχετικά σπάνια (0.5% - 1.5%) επιπλοκή, που δυστυχώς στην μεγάλη πλειοψηφία των περιπτώσεων είναι ιδιαίτερα δύσκολο να αντιμετωπιστεί αποτελεσματικά και συνοδεύεται από σημαντική νοσηρότητα, αλλά και θνητότητα.\nΜε την παρούσα διατριβή, θα μελετηθούν και θα παρουσιαστούν όλα τα σύγχρονα επιστημονικά και ερευνητικά δεδομένα, τα οποία αφορούν τις σηπτικές επιπλοκές των ολικών αρθροπλαστικών του ισχίου και του γόνατος, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στους τρόπους της επιτυχημένης αντιμετώπισής τους.
