      "@value" : "The present thesis deals with a recent paper of Daniel Larsen (at the time of writing his\npaper a high school senior!) who managed to prove that between every sufficiently large\nnatural number and its double there exists (at least) a Carmichael number, a conjecture\nprevalent in the Analytic Number Theory community since the early 90’s due to a paper\nof Alford, Granville and Pomerance.\n\nIn Chapter 1, we present some basic theorems of Elementary Number Theory regarding\nCarmichael numbers and state (without proof) some propositions that are going to be\nuseful in the rest of the chapters.\n\nIn Chapter 2, with seemingly little motivation, we define many notions that, with the help\nof combinatorial and number theoretic lemmas, become vital in constructing sets of pairs\nof ”non-clustered” primes, the key-sets for finding the Carmichael numbers we look out\nfor.\n\nFinally, in Chapter 3, the ingenious use of elementary tools from Calculus and Probability\nTheory to prove a difficult technical theorem and some further neat observations and\nconnections with the work done at Chapter 2, shall allow us to yield the desired result."

      "@value" : "Στην παρούσα διπλωματική θα ασχοληθούμε με μία πρόσφατη δημοσίευση του Daniel\nLarsen, ο οποίος, ως μαθητής, κατάφερε να αποδείξει μία εικασία των Alford, Granville\nκαι Pomerance από το μακρινό 1994, περί της ύπαρξης αριθμού Carmichael μεταξύ κα-\nθενός επαρκώς μεγάλου φυσικού αριθμού και του διπλασίου του, κατ’αντιστοιχία με το\nκλασσικό θεώρημα που αφορά τους πρώτους αριθμούς.\n\nΣτο 1ο Κεφάλαιο θα παρουσιαστούν κάποια βασικά θεωρήματα της Στοιχειώδους Θε-\nωρίας Αριθμών που αφορούν τους αριθμούς Carmichael και θα διατυπωθούν (ανευ απο-\nδείξεως) κάποιες βασικές προτάσεις που θα μας χρειαστούν παρακάτω.\n\nΣτο 2ο Κεφάλαιο, ορίζοντας τις κατάλληλες ποσοτητες, ίσως κάπως αυθαίρετα με μια\nπρόχειρη ματιά, χρησιμοποιούμε μία ευρεία γκάμα τόσο αριθμοθεωρητικών όσο και συν-\nδυαστικών λημμάτων ώστε να κατασκευάσουμε σύνολα ζευγών μη-συσταδοποιημένων\nπρώτων που θα παίξουν καταλυτικό ρόλο στην εύρεση των ζητούμενων αριθμών Carmichael.\n\nΤέλος, στο 3ο Kεφάλαιο με την χρήση «ταπεινών εργαλείων» (ας μου επιτραπεί η έκ-\nφραση) από μαθήματα προπτυχιακού επιπέδου όπως ο Απειροστικός Λογισμός και η Θε-\nωρία Πιθανοτήτων αποδεικνύεται ένα αρκετά τεχνικό αποτέλεσμα (Θεώρημα 6), το οποίο\nσε συνδυασμό με τη δουλειά του Κεφαλαίου 2 και με ένα ομολογουμένως περίτεχνο επι-\nχείρημα, ολοκληρώνει την απόδειξη του κεντρικού θεωρήματος."
