Η
συμμετοχή τους στο Λύκειο ήταν ελάχιστη, καθώς ήταν προαιρετική και πολλά κορίτσια
δεν είχαν το αντίστοιχο ενδιαφέρον και υποστήριξη από τις οικογένειές τους. Μέσα από
τις μαρτυρίες και τη μελέτη της βιβλιογραφίας, γίνεται φανερό ότι υπήρχε σημαντικό
επίπεδο ακαμψίας εντός και εκτός του σχολικού περιβάλλοντος. Τα κορίτσια είχαν
περιορισμένη αυτονομία στη λήψη αποφάσεων σχετικά με τις κοινωνικές τους
αλληλεπιδράσεις, τις επαγγελματικές τους διαδρομές και τις εκπαιδευτικές τους
επιδιώξεις.
Αναλογιζόμενος κανείς το παρελθόν, γίνεται πλέον φανερό ότι η εκπαίδευση έχει επιτύχει την ισότητα των φύλων στο έθνος μας. Αυτή η πρόοδος δεν ήταν χωρίς προκλήσεις και εμπόδια. Ιδιαίτερα στη δευτεροβάθμια εκπαίδευση, παρατηρήθηκαν σημαντικές διαφορές, κυρίως στην ιδιωτική ζωή των μαθητών, οι οποίες δεν έχουν καμία ομοιότητα με τη σημερινή πραγματικότητα. Επιπλέον, η έρευνά για την πανεπιστημιακή εκπαίδευση των γυναικών αποκάλυψε πολυάριθμες επίπονες προσπάθειες που τελικά οδήγησαν στην ένταξή τους στην τριτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση — γεγονός που είναι πλέον παγκοσμίως αποδεκτό. Συνοψίζοντας, οι άοκνες προσπάθειες των φεμινιστικών κινημάτων και των πνευματικά ανώτερων ατόμων της εποχής έθεσαν τα θεμέλια για τη μετέπειτα προώθηση των δικαιωμάτων των γυναικών, τα οποία τώρα συχνά θεωρούμε δεδομένα.</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang='en'>In the 19th century, girls&apos; education was lacking in many respects. Their participation in high school was minimal, as it was optional, and many girls lacked the interest and support of their families. Through the testimonies and the study of the literature, it is evident that there was significant level of rigidity within and outside the school environment. Girls had limited autonomy in making decisions about their social interactions, career paths and educational aspirations.
Reflecting on the past, it is now evident that education has achieved gender equality in our nation. This progress has not been without challenges and obstacles. Particularly in secondary education, significant disparities have been observed, especially in the private lives of students, which bear no resemblance to today&apos;s reality. Moreover, research on women&apos;s university education revealed numerous painful efforts that eventually led to their integration into higher education - a fact that is now universally accepted worldwide.
