      "@value" : "Την δεκαετία του 1960, οι Atiyah και Singer έδωσαν μια τεράστια γενίκευση\nμιας σειράς αποτελεσμάτων που συνδέουν την Τοπολογία με την Ανάλυση. Το\nθεώρημα Atiyah-Singer γενικεύει ταυτόχρονα το κλασσικό θεώρημα\nGauss-Bonnet, τη θεωρία Chern-Weil, καθώς και το θεώρημα Riemann-Roch. Το\nαποτέλεσμα είναι ένας τύπος για τον υπολογισμό του αναλυτικού δείκτη ενός\nελλειπτικού (ψευδο)διαφορικού τελεστή, μέσω χαρακτηριστικών κλάσεων.\n\nΗ εργασία αυτή παρουσιάζει την μεταγενέστερη απόδειξη του θεωρήματος\nAtiyah-Singer, χρησιμοποιώντας ομαδοειδή Lie και Κ-θεωρία. Αυτή η απόδειξη\nπροκύπτει από την παρατήρηση ότι ο αναλυτικός δείκτης εξαρτάται μόνο από\nτην κλάση του πρωτεύοντος συμβόλου στην Κ-θεωρία. Με έναυσμα αυτό, ο Alain\nConnes χρησιμοποίησε ένα ομαδοειδές παραμόρφωσης για να περιγράψει την\nσχέση του ελλειπτικού τελεστή με το πρωτεύον σύμβολο, μέσω της σχετικής\nσύντομης ακριβούς ακολουθίας C*-αλγεβρών.       "@value" : "In the 1960s, Atiyah and Singer gave a vast generalisation of a series of\nresults connecting Topology with Analysis. The Atiyah-Singer theorem\ngeneralises the classical Gauss-Bonnet theorem, Chern-Weil theory and the\nRiemann-Roch theorem. It gives a formula for the calculation of the\nanalytic index of an elliptic (pseudo)differential operator using\ncharacteristic classes.\n\nThis dissertation presents the recent proof of the Atiyah-Singer theorem\nusing Lie groupoids and K-theory. This proof arises from the observation\nthat the analytic index depends only from the class of the principal\nsymbol in K-theory. Starting from this, Alain Connes used a deformation\ngroupoid and its associated extension of C* algebras to describe the\nrelation of the elliptic operator with its principal symbol. The\nconnecting map in K-theory is the analytic index.\n\nClaire Debord showed that the topological index can also be expressed in\nK-theory using deformation groupoids and the Thom isomorphism. The proof\nof the equality of the two indices is a Poincare duality type theorem,\nexpressed through Kasparov's KK-theory.\n\nIn this framework, the calculation of the index can be possible by the\npairing of K-theory with cyclic cohomology. Partial results in this\ndirection have been given by Pflaum-Posthuma-Tang."
