      "@value" : "Η παρούσα εργασία εστιάζει στη διερεύνηση της δυνατότητας αξιοποίησης των πλεοναζόντων εργαστηριακών ζώων που δεν έχουν συμμετάσχει σε κάποιο ερευνητικό πρωτόκολλο και δεν είναι γενετικά τροποποιημένα, ως τροφή για τα σαρκοφάγα ζώα που φιλοξενούνται σε ζωολογικά πάρκα. Για το σκοπό αυτό, αναλύεται το νομικό πλαίσιο που διέπει τη διαχείριση των νεκρών εργαστηριακών ζώων και τη διατροφή των ζώων στα ζωολογικά πάρκα, ενώ παράλληλα εξετάζονται οι ηθικές και περιβαλλοντικές διαστάσεις που προκύπτουν. Τα εργαστηριακά ζώα, όπως τα ποντίκια και οι αρουραίοι, αποτελούν ακρογωνιαίο λίθο για τη βιοϊατρική έρευνα. Παρόλα αυτά, ένας μεγάλος αριθμός πλεοναζόντων ζώων που είναι απόλυτα υγιή καταλήγει στην αποτέφρωση χωρίς να αξιοποιηθεί περαιτέρω. \nΑπό την άλλη, τα ζωολογικά πάρκα επιτελούν πολλαπλές λειτουργίες, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της διατήρησης της βιοποικιλότητας, της εκπαίδευσης και της ψυχαγωγίας. Ωστόσο, η διατροφή των ζώων που φιλοξενούνται σε αυτά αποτελεί σημαντική πρόκληση, λόγω των αυξημένων αναγκών και της ανάγκης για οικονομική και βιώσιμη διαχείριση των πόρων. Η εργασία διερευνά μια πρόταση που λαμβάνει υπόψη νομικούς, περιβαλλοντικούς και ηθικούς παράγοντες, με στόχο τη μείωση των περιβαλλοντικών επιπτώσεων, τη βέλτιστη οικονομική αξιοποίηση των διαθέσιμων πόρων και την ηθικά ορθή χρήση των πλεοναζόντων εργαστηριακών ζώων, ενισχύοντας παράλληλα τη βιωσιμότητα και τη λειτουργικότητα των ζωολογικών πάρκων και των εγκαταστάσεων ζώων εργαστηρίου."

      "@value" : "This study focuses on exploring the potential utilization of surplus laboratory animals, which have not participated in any research protocols and are not genetically modified, as feed for carnivorous animals housed in zoological parks. For this purpose, the legal framework regulating the management of euthanized laboratory animals and the feeding practices of animals in zoological parks is analyzed, while the ethical and environmental dimensions are also examined. Laboratory animals, such as mice and rats, serve as cornerstone in vivo models for biomedical research. However, a significant number of surplus animals that are entirely healthy are incinerated without any further use.\nOn the other hand, zoological parks fulfill multiple roles, including biodiversity conservation, education, and entertainment. Nevertheless, feeding the animals they host presents a considerable challenge due to the increased demands and the need for cost-effective and sustainable resources management. This study investigates a suggestion that takes into account legal, environmental, and ethical factors, aiming to reduce environmental impacts, optimize the economic utilization of available resources, and ensure the ethical use of surplus laboratory animals. At the same time, it seeks to enhance the sustainability and functionality of both zoological parks and laboratory animal facilities."
