This dissertation was written as part of the MA in the Classical Archaeology and the Ancient History of Macedonia at the International Hellenic University. Following the unsuccessful campaign of Xerxes and his defeat in the Battle of Plataea, Eordaea’s dependence became evident. However, it has been argued that Eordaea geographically belonged to Upper Macedonia and administratively to Lower Macedonia. According to the archaeological finds, the territory was densely populated and powerful, characterized by historical continuity, urban expansion, and organization. Furthermore, the political, social, and religious institutions were similar to those of Elimeia, Orestis, and Lynkestis. The ancient sources refer to a city named Eordaea. However, any attempt to associate it with any of the known archaeological sites is currently hypothetical. Nevertheless, something that is particularly intriguing is the architectural and mobile artifacts discovered across various sites in the region, including Florina, Kozani, and Ptolemaida. These finds unveil the uniqueness of Eordaea both before and after the unification of the Macedonian Kingdom. (EN)
