The major changes that occurred by Alexander the Great's campaign and the establishment of the Hellenistic world's polytheistic religious framework illustrate the close relationship between the polis’ cult stability and the emergence of a new religious network where innovative ideas were discussed, new habits were established, and traditional views were challenged. In this context of polytheistic religion, the worship of Zeus Hypsistos in Macedonia is regarded as one of the most significant among the Macedonian religious cults, as evidenced by the numerous monuments dedicated in his honor. This is particularly important during the Roman Imperial period when the cult of Zeus Hypsistos spread throughout the eastern Mediterranean region. (EN)
