In 2020, the world experienced an unexpected event that meant to influence all areas of life, enforcing changes that altered at a large extent the way people interact, are entertained, work, shop, study, do business and generally live: the Covid-19 pandemic. Social distancing enforced people to turn online in almost everything they normally did with a physical presence. As a direct result, technology and digitalization, which were already being advancing at a fast pace, made a surging growth, mainly fueled by mass adoption of online solutions. Digital technologies infiltrated and, in many cases, totally replaced even the most traditional sectors and business models. The advancement in ecommerce and e-business brought into surface the challenges of an important sector of the traditional law: the consumer’ s protection, especially the right of withdrawal, in relation to the function of smart contracts in the new digital era.
