The primary goal of this paper is to fully explain the terms contained in its title. The terms of the siege craft, the fortification art, the city in the context of the geographical and historical definition of Aegean Thrace is aimed to be covered as best as possible from a bibliography aspect. The working case must answer to the question: Is there a development in the art of siegecraft in the cities of Aegean Thrace from their walls?
The methods that have been used concern the bibliographical research, the methodical recording, the indexing, and its synthetic use. It is essentially a theoretical approach to the subject. So, the following work, after dealing extensively with the research problem, highlights the complexity of the issue. To conclude the answer to the question above, can only be answered indirectly through the fortification activity of the region, at least with the current research shown in this study. The positive effect of this paper is the concentrated knowledge provided for the examined positions, and the combined historical, geographical, architectural, and typological knowledge that can be related to them. It is also possible that the present study can be used as a starting point, theoretical framework, by future researchers of similar or the same research object, of the same area or subject matter since in my
opinion; there are multiple ways of approaching and examining the issue resulting from the title of this project.
