Παπαδοπούλου, ΔέσποιναΤο άρθρο πραγματεύεται τη σημασία της νόμι-μης παραμονής του μετανάστη στη συμμετο-χή του στην αγορά εργασίας στην Ελλάδα καιστη συνολική κοινωνική του ενσωμάτωση. Ηανάλυση στηρίζεται σε αποτελέσματα πρωτο-γενούς έρευνας που έχει διεξαχθεί σε τρειςπόλεις της Ελλάδας, την Αθήνα, τη Θεσσαλο-νίκη και τα Ιωάννινα, στο πλαίσιο ερευνητικούπρογράμματος που αξιολογεί τη μεταναστευ-τική πολιτική στην Ελλάδα σε εφαρμογή τηςΕυρωπαϊκής Στρατηγικής για την Απασχόλησηκαι υλοποιήθηκε το 2006 και 2007. Το παρόνκείμενο εστιάζει στον τελικό ρόλο της νομιμο-ποίησης στις διαδικασίες ένταξης στην αγοράεργασίας και ενσωμάτωσης των μεταναστώνστην ελληνική κοινωνία. Από τα αποτελέσματαπροκύπτει ότι το κριτήριο του τίτλου διαμονήςή μη τίτλου επηρεάζει καθολικά την οικογε-νειακή συνένωση και λιγότερο το καθεστώςαπασχόλησης. Επηρεάζει δηλ. την ύπαρξη καιτη συντήρηση της οικογένειας, τις επιδόσειςτων παιδιών στο σχολείο, όμως δεν βοηθάειστην αλλαγή επαγγέλματος ούτε διευκολύνειτην εξεύρεση καλύτερης θέσης στην αγοράεργασίας. Εν τέλει επηρεάζει την κοινωνικήενσωμάτωση αλλά μακροπρόθεσμα.This article examines how legal immigrantsintegrate in the Greek labor market. Theanalysis is based on the results of anempirical research which was carried out inthree Greek cities, namely, Athens, Salonikiand Ioannina, in 2006 and 2007. The researchtook place in the framework of a researchprogramme evaluating the migrant policy inGreece as an implementation of the EuropeanStrategy for Employment. This article focuseson the ultimate role of legitimization in theprocesses of the immigrants’ entrance in thelabour market and their integration in Greeksociety. The fi ndings show that stay permitsplays little infl uence or no infl uence on thework and employment integration, but astrong infl uence on the family re-unifi cation.That is, the title of stay infl uences familyexistence and maintenance, as well as childachievement at school, but it does not help atchanging the occupational status or fi nding abetter job in the labor market.
