Η πρόταξη τουαξιώματος της επιλεκτικής μετανάστευσηςαποτέλεσε πρόσφατα την επίσημη απάντησητης Ευρώπης στις προκλήσεις του 21ου αι-ώνα, όμως είναι αμφίβολο, εάν η εφαρμογήτου θα μπορέσει να ικανοποιήσει τις ειδικό-τερες ανάγκες των χωρών-μελών ή εάν, ακό-μη, υπάρχει ειλικρινής εμπιστοσύνη από όλατα εμπλεκόμενα μέρη στην καταλληλότητά του.Σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες ενδείξεις η επιλεκτι-κή μετανάστευση στερείται πολλών στοιχείωνκαινοτομίας, ενώ και οι προοπτικές επίτευξηςτων επιδιωκόμενων στόχων είναι μάλλον περι-ορισμένες.The country-members of the EuropeanUnion, faced with common challenges, arerequired in the economic conjuncture thatthey are currently faced with to take weightydecisions as regards an up to date migrationpolicy. Fighting for the axiom of selectivemigration has recently constituted the offi cialanswer of Europe to the challenges of the 21stcentury. Nevertheless, it is doubtful whetherits implementation will actually manage tosatisfy the specifi c needs of each countrymember,or if there still is sincere andimplicit confi dence through all the involvedparts as regards its suitability.
