The “Research Center of Psychophysiology and Education”, affiliated with the Faculty of Primary Education, School of Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, was established in 2003 (FEK A 98/2003). Its members are faculty members of the University of Athens, postgraduate students, PhD candidates and research associates. Our research covers themes within the broad area of educational and cognitive neuroscience, psychology, education and special education. We study the psychophysiological underpinnings of emotional and cognitive functions, focusing on children and adolescents. We are interested in both typical and atypical development. In addition, we investigate the psychophysiological mechanisms of learning difficulties such as reading difficulties or difficulties in mathematics. Moreover, we study factors pertinent to the disabilities of people with special needs and we develop interventions for special education.

The Panhellenic Conference of Education Sciences is organized by the Research Center for Psychophysiology and Education, affiliated with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Research in the field of education is the cornerstone for improving the quality of education in our country. Conducting scientific conferences significantly aids towards diffusing knowledge. The purpose the Conference is to present recent basic, as well as applied, research on educational and special education issues, but also in topics related to psychiatry, psychology, linguistics and speech therapy. Furthermore, during the Conference proposals are put forward concerning the future of education in our country. Finally, new research and teaching experiences are presented from prominent individuals in the field of education.
