Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία ασχολείται με τα πρώτα διηγήματα και ποιήματα που δημοσιεύει ο Ηλίας Βενέζης τα χρόνια 1920-1922, στα περιοδικά "Νέα Ζωή" (Σμύρνη) και "Ο Λόγος" (Κωνσταντινούπολη) αντίστοιχα. Στο α΄ μέρος της εργασίας, δίνονται τα κείμενα αυτά, που έχουν μεταγραφεί από τα περιοδικά στα οποία δημοσιεύτηκαν. Στο β΄ μέρος, γίνεται αναφορά σε κάποια χρήσιμα βιογραφικά στοιχεία της ζωής του Βενέζη μέχρι και το 1922, όταν και δημοσιεύει το τελευταίο διήγημα στο περιοδικό "Ο Λόγος", και οι περιλήψεις των διηγημάτων αυτών. Έπειτα, αναλύεται η περιρρέουσα ατμόσφαιρα των χρόνων 1918-1922. Αρχικά, γίνεται αναφορά στη δυναμική που είχε ο Τύπος το διάστημα εκείνο και παρουσιάζονται σύντομα τα περιοδικά "Νέα Ζωή" και "Ο Λόγος". Κατόπιν, αναλύονται τα μοτίβα, οι θεματικές και τα σύμβολα των κειμένων του Βενέζη, τα οποία συνάδουν με το νεορομαντικό/νεοσυμβολιστικό κλίμα που αναβιώνει τα χρόνια εκείνα στην ποίηση και στην πεζογραφία, ενώ αναφορά γίνεται και σε συγγραφείς που τον επηρέασαν στα πρώτα του συγγραφικά βήματα, όπως ο Φώτης Κόντογλου, και διαμόρφωσαν τη νεανική του σκέψη.

This thesis deals with the first short stories and poems published by Ilias Venezis in the years 1920-1922, in the literatture journals"Nea Zoi" (Smyrna) and "O Logos" (Constantinople). In the first part of this thesis, these texts are given, transcribed from the journals in which they were published. In the second part of this thesis, reference is made to some useful biographical elements of Venezi's life up to 1922, when he published the last short story in the journal "O Logos", and the summary of these short stories. Then, the surrounding atmosphere of the years 1918-1922 is analyzed. Firstly, reference is made to the potential that the press had at that time and the journals "Nea Zoi" and "O Logos" are briefly presented. Secondly, the patterns, the themes and the symbols of Venezi's texts are analyzed, which are consistent with the neo-romantic/neo-symbolist climate that was reviving in those years in poetry and prose, while reference is also made to authors who influenced him in his first writing steps, like Fotis Kontoglou, and shaped his youthful thinking.
