Οι διαφορετικές σημαντικές επιστημονικές αντιλήψεις αναπόφευκτα επιφέρουν διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις στους τομείς της παιδείας και της εκπαίδευσης. Το παραδοσιακό μοντέλο της εκπαίδευσης, έτσι όπως το γνωρίζουμε και το έχουμε βιώσει δεν μπορεί να ανταποκριθεί ούτε στις ανάγκες μάθησης που έχουν οι ετερογενείς ομάδες μαθητών ούτε στις κοινωνικές ανάγκες των πολυπολιτισμικών κοινωνιών. Αποτελεί πλέον ένα αναποτελεσματικό «στενό» τεχνοκρατικό μοντέλο που παραγνωρίζει τη σημασία των πολιτισμικών αλλαγών στο σχολικό περιβάλλον. Χρειάζεται ένα μοντέλο εκπαίδευσης με διαφορετική σκοποθεσία, διδασκαλίας, με διαφορετικές μεθόδους και τρόπους διδασκαλίας. Ένα πρόγραμμα σύμφωνα με το οποίο στη διαδικασία μάθησης ο μαθητής θα εμπλέκεται στο σύνολο του, γνωστικά, συναισθηματικά, κινητικά όπου η μάθηση θα γίνεται με συσχετισμούς και ενοποιήσεις· ένα πρόγραμμα με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στην οικολογία και στη βιωματική εμπειρία που θα το χαρακτηρίζει η ανοιχτότητα και ο μετασχηματισμός. Ένα τέτοιο ολιστικό πρόγραμμα θεωρείται η Διαθεματικότητα και τα Πολυπολιτισμικά - Διαπολιτισμικά Προγράμματα.Η παρούσα έρευνα ασχολείται με τη διερεύνηση των διαπροσωπικών σχέσεων μεταξύ γηγενών και αλλοδαπών μαθητών μέσα στο χώρο του σχολείου αλλά και έξω από αυτόν, καθώς κάτι τέτοιο θα βοηθούσε στην καλύτερη κατανόηση της σύγχρονης ελληνικής σχολικής πραγματικότητας και της ψυχολογίας όλων των μαθητών που φοιτούν στα ελληνικά σχολεία. Επίσης, μέσω αυτής της διερεύνησης θα αναδειχθούν οι λόγοι που βοηθούν αλλά και δυσχεραίνουν την αποδοχή των αλλοδαπών μαθητών από τους Έλληνες συμμαθητές, γεγονός που θα κάνει ευκολότερη την αντιμετώπιση των μαθητών των μεταναστών στο σχολικό περιβάλλον.
Multicultural and interdisciplinary curriculums urge schools to become democratic, to integrate in their classrooms all students without exclusion and marginalization in the framework of a culture of awareness, to assist the students through interdisciplinary, collaborative and revealing methods to cultivate critical thinking, not only in order to re-adjust in modern society but in order to envision a better society and to therefore make it possible.This research is concerned with the interpersonal relations between natives pupils and of different nationality within the school and outside of it as a subject such as this would greatly contribute to the deeper comprehension of the Modern Greek educational reality as well as the psychology of students attending Greek schools.
