The fifth chapter of the book deal with the epyllion, the small-scaled epic, which flourished in Late Antiquity. Texts from Triphiodorus The Capture of Troy and Musaeus Hero and Leander are excerpted and provided with a detailed commentary. Abundant visual material is provided from Late Antiquity and Modern times.
