Αντικείμενο της παρούσας μεταπτυχιακής εργασίας αποτελεί ο διάκοσμος ελληνικών θεάτρων στην ρωμαϊκή εποχή. Αρχικά, περιλαμβάνει μία σύντομη εισαγωγή για το ρωμαϊκό θέατρο και τον γλυπτό του διάκοσμο και στη συνέχεια επικεντρώνεται στον διάκοσμο αφενός του θεάτρου της Κορίνθου και αφετέρου του θεάτρου του Διονύσου Αθηνών. Τα θέατρα αυτά αποτελούν από τα πιο χαρακτηριστικά δείγματα θεάτρου που απαντώνται στην Ελλάδα, καθώς είναι εμφανείς οι οικοδομικές-κατασκευαστικές τους φάσεις κατά τη ρωμαϊκή εποχή. Κατόπιν, περιγράφεται η ιστορία των δύο θεάτρων κατά την ελληνική περίοδο (δηλαδή την κλασική και την ελληνιστική) και κατά την ρωμαϊκή εποχή, καθώς επίσης αναλύεται ο γλυπτός διάκοσμος των θεάτρων αυτών με έμφαση στην ρωμαϊκή περίοδο. Τέλος, παρατίθενται τα συμπεράσματα.

The subject of this master’s thesis is the decoration of Greek theaters in the Roman Era. First, it includes a brief introduction to the Roman theater and its sculptural decoration and then focuses on the decoration of both the theater of Corinth and the theater of Dionysus of Athens. These theaters are one of the most characteristic examples of theater that are found in Greece, as their construction phases during the Roman Era are evident. Moreover, the history of the two theaters during the Greek Period (the Classical and Hellenistic Period) and the Roman Era is described, as well as the sculptural decoration of these theaters with an emphasis on the Roman period. Finally, the conclusions are presented.
