A method of simulation of the performance of jet engines, with the possibility of adapting to engine particularities, is presented. It employs an adaptation procedure coupled to a performance model solving the component matching problem. The proposed method can provide accurate simulation for engines of the same type, with differences that are due to manufacturing or assembly tolerances. It does not require accurate component maps, because they are derived during the adaptation procedure. It can also be used for health monitoring purposes, for component fault identification, and condition assessment. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by application to two commercial jet engines. (EN)
