Over the years, there have been efforts made in order to assess water and energy consumption of hospital laundries. A recent work on this inquiry involved the estimation of the consumption of water, steam, and electric energy for typical washing phases of hospital washing machines. The study has the goal of providing relevant data for the techno-economic design of laundry rooms and their economic operation specific for hospital setups. The study divides each washing phase into separate categories that include time-independent and time-dependent wash phases. Through a case study, it was showed that the work is flexible and can be applied to typical and non-typical wash programs. (EN)
