We analyzed an in-service training session on energy for secondary school teachers, in order to characterize the school science model of energy proposed to the teachers. This model is based in particular on energy transfers, conversion and storage, and is based on the representation of energy phenomena by energy chains that respond to a particular formalism. Conservation is mentioned, but is not at the heart of the model. Degradation, an essential property of energy in a societal context, is not part of this model. (EN)
