In this research work we focus on the development of emancipatory citizenship an issue of Socially Acute Questions (SAQ) allowing the learner to analyze situations of societal debates and to face uncertainty. We start from the example of cholesterol as a schooling of a SAQ and we questioned the curriculum of the science of life and earth to ensure to what extent their designer are in favor of the promotion of emancipatory citizenship. The analysis of the corpus chosen allows us to affirm that the designers of the program of programs are in favor of the development of emancipatory citizenship while those of official life and earth science programs do not concretize this objective; they are rather oriented towards normative citizenship.
