The present thesis examines the critical and literary work of Alexandros Kotzias (1926-1992), focusing particularly on the deep-rooted connection and interaction between the two. The stylistic thread that weaves together the critic and writer’s critical and literary work is “pseudo-realism”. Αs a critical theory, Kotzias’ “pseudo-realism” is essentially structured on a verisimilar representation of space, time and characters. Verisimilitude constitutes the author’s primary writing technique in his novels, while simultaneously defining the core of his poetics. Thus organized, Kotzias’ narrative universe is consistently oriented towards the polyphonic novel. The latter, grounded on the interrelated concepts of heteroglossia/polyglossia and intertextuality, employs complex narrative structures to unfold aspects of dialogism, namely the dialogical conceptualization of language (as combative inter-action) and of human consciousness (as the infinite product of responsive interactions between the Self and the Other).
Αντικείμενο μελέτης της παρούσας διατριβής αποτελεί το κριτικό και μυθιστοριογραφικό έργο του Αλέξανδρου Κοτζιά (1926-1992) και ειδικότερα η βαθιά σύνδεση και αλληλεπίδρασή τους. Το κριτικό και πεζογραφικό έργο του συγγραφέα και κριτικού συνέχονται από τον κοινό άξονα του «ψευδορεαλισμού». Ο «ψευδορεαλισμός» ως κριτική θεωρία του Αλ. Κοτζιά διαρθρώνεται ουσιαστικά με την πιθανοφανή αφηγηματική απόδοση του χώρου, του χρόνου και των χαρακτήρων. Η πιθανοφάνεια αυτή εφαρμόζεται από τον ίδιο ως εμπεριστατωμένη μέθοδος στα μυθιστορήματά του, ορίζοντας ταυτόχρονα τον πυρήνα της ποιητικής του. Έτσι οργανωμένο το αφηγηματικό σύμπαν του Αλ. Κοτζιά προσανατολίζεται με σταθερότητα και συνέπεια προς το είδος του πολυφωνικού μυθιστορήματος. Το τελευταίο, βασισμένο στις συναφείς του έννοιες της πολυγλωσσίας και της διακειμενικότητας, εκδιπλώνει, μέσα από σύνθετες αφηγηματικές δομές, όψεις της διαλογικότητας, της διαλογικής δηλαδή σύλληψης της γλώσσας (ως δράσης) και της ανθρώπινης συνείδησης (ο εαυτός και η ετερότητα).
