Αντικείμενο της παρούσης διδακτορικής διατριβής είναι η ανάδειξη και η αποκωδικοποίηση των εκφάνσεων του έρωτα στα δραματικά έργα Ἀντιγόνη, Τραχίνιαι, Ἠλέκτρα του Σοφοκλή και Ἱππόλυτος, Μήδεια, Ἄλκηστις του Ευριπίδη, μια διερεύνηση που αποσκοπεί να αποδείξει τη σαγηνευτική και, κυρίως, την καταστροφική παρέμβαση του έρωτα στη ζωή των μυθοπλαστικών ηρώων. Προβάλλοντας όλες τις πλευρές του έρωτα (εκτός του ρομαντικού και ομοφυλοφιλικού έρωτα) ο Σοφοκλής και ο Ευριπίδης προσπάθησαν να αφυπνίσουν το αθηναϊκό κοινό σε ευαίσθητα κοινωνικά ζητήματα όπως η θέση της γυναίκας στην κοινωνία και η αξία του ετερόφυλου και συζυγικού έρωτα και να τους οδηγήσουν σε μια ενδότερη ψυχολογική διερεύνηση των συμβάντων, σε μια κοινωνική και πολιτική εμβάθυνση με υπαρξιακό νόημα.
The subject of this PhD thesis is the enhancement and decoding of the expressions of eros in the dramatic plays Antigone, Trachiniae, Electra by Sophocles and Hippolytus, Medea, Alcestis by Euripides, a research that focuses on the seductive and, above all, destructive intervention of love in mythical characters’ life. By highlighting all aspects of love (except romantic and homosexual love) in those tragedies, Sophocles and Euripides tried to awaken the Athenian citizens to sensitive social issues such as the position of women in society and the value of heterosexual and marital love, and lead them to an innermost psychological exploration of the events, to a social and political deepening with existential meaning.
