Environmental Education is a set of activities of a theoretical and experiential nature, which contributes to inform citizens about existing environmental problems and raising their awareness, so that they adopt correct behaviors that will contribute to the protection of the natural environment and the survival of future generations. Although Environmental Education is very important, it does not always find practical application due to its non-mandatory nature, even in formal education institutions. Specifically in Greece, where the planning and implementation of Environmental Education activities is the result of the teachers' intentions, which are shaped by their perceptions. In this paper, an attempt was made to investigate the perceptions and attitudes of Greek teachers, by conducting a quantitative survey on a sample of 78 teachers working in school units in Greece. The results of the research showed that teachers have particularly positive attitudes towards environmental education. They understand that through Environmental Education, students can be aware of the environmental problems that exist and be informed about the beneficial practices they can use to deal with them. It also became clear that they carry out some activities as they feel moderately prepared. However, in order teachers to be more efficient when they teach Environmental Education and help students acquire knowledge and correct environmental behavior, they should participate in educational programs and overcome key obstacles related to the lack of culture in schools, the lack of guidance, support and resources.
