This dissertation was written as part of the MA in the Classical Archaeology and the Ancient History of Macedonia at the International Hellenic University. Its aim is to focus on Olympias’ and Eurydice’s relationship with each other, and the political moves taken behind it. How did these women interact and what were the reason behind it? The women seemed to have strong ambitions that motivated them in their positions. This dissertation follows the lives of the two women, with the sources available to us, as well as the few interactions they had with each other. Their alliances and influence, as well as their eventual downfalls and legacies are also discussed. The eventual conclusion is that although the two women attempted to compete for the benefit of their own lineages, their positions and lives were ultimately decided by the men around them. I would like to acknowledge my advisor, Dr. Xydopoulos for his help with this dissertation, especially with narrowing my topic down, as well as Dr. Elizabeth Carney, who’s large bibliography helped a large part of this dissertation come together.
