In this paper we present a collection of memories and notes found in lirur- gical books of the village Zitsa of the Ioannina region. All these books belong to the monastery of Prophet Elias and to the church of Saint Nikolas, but some come from other ecclesiastic monuments as well. Therefore we prefered to list them chronologically (undated books are listed in the end); apart from that, many notes are undated, so a flawless chronological order is not able. There have been other editions of a few notes and memories from Zitsa, but in our work we have concentrated almost all of them. At the same time we present all available information on the content of the notes, while offering our own comments on the matter. The memories and notes span over a wide period, from 1765 to 1970, and include known and unknown aspects of Zitsa’s distant and recent past, many of which are interesting. Therefore, we hope that our paper will promote the understanding and will allow a more effective approach of Zitsa’s - and its area’s - history, and also that will facilitate the local historiographic research.
