In a fast-changing world, brimming with social and economic uncertainty, financial information plays a vital role in the life of an organization and does so with two sets of eyes. One set looks back to see what has happened. This is the accounting function, which is simply about the recording of events and the production of the financial reports that satisfy the stewardship responsibility of management. The other set looks forward to determine the most appropriate strategic direction for an organization, guiding managerial actions, motivating behaviors, and creating and supporting the cultural values necessary to achieve an organization’s strategic objectives. In the first chapter we will talk about the financial management of businesses, the objectives and types of businesses. We will see the role played by managers and what decisions should be taken for the best possible solution to the problems of business. In the second chapter we will deal with the risks lurking on business decisions, how they arise and what impact they have towards the company. Still, we will study the crises and how the managers can manage them better to have minimal casualties. In the third chapter we will talk about the company and the group of O.T.E. What services and products are offered, which subsidiaries it has and the analysis of these towards the European market. Also, we will talk about stable and mobile telephony, and what impact do they have for the consumer.
In Chapter 4 we will study the financial results of OTE the last time to date, we will see the diagrams and will comment on the most significant changes (positive and negative) until today. Finally, in the fifth chapter we will discuss the major economic problems arising in the company of O.T.E. and how managers can handle them, to avoid facing them in the future.
