The author publishes three documents, placed in the small historical archive of the old university building of the Thessaloniki Faculty of Philosophy, which report on the founding and function of the Trambatzis gymnasium in Siatista, since these documents contain information concerning the donation of Siatista’s great benefactor loannis M. Trambatzis and the social unrest provoked by the controversy among the population of the city’s two quarters as to the proper site for the Gymnasium. (EN)
