From some photographed documents, conceded to Apost. E. Vakalopoulos for study, the author singled out one which mentions an act of piracy by Maniates against refugee monks from the Chilandarion monas tery of Mount Athos. This act took place in Myli of Argos on 5 July 1822, in a period in which Southern Greece is in a serious state of confusion due to the descent of Mahmoud Pasha Dramalis. From the document’s contents it can be proven that Konstantinos Mavromichalis might have been involved in this act. He live with others of his compatriots in fortified Monemvasia, and used the authority of his renowned family to cover up for the guilty par ties. (EN)
