This study examines popular traditions of West Macedonia, where there are preserved memories from various historical events concerning quarters of villages also events from the Turkish domination and Aghios Kosmas Aitolos. The study of these traditions with its partial conclusions, indicates the need of a systematic study of this material so that it may be of help to the historical as well as the folklore research, while the sub-divisions which are established, may be used for reviewing the present system of classification for the traditions of this category. The research of the local material and its gathering constitutes the first step of a Panhellenic overall study, while the specific study contributes to the historical and folkloric research of Macedonia.
