The author deals with the etymology of some dialect-words, which she has collected in August 1981 from some villages of the region of Pieria, during an expedition in those villages for collecting dialect material. The words, which the author deals with, are the following: βαλάρ’<βάλαρις, όουόοιιτίζου< ύποποτίζω, δγάρ’γους<διάγυρος, καλόψουμου<*καλοψόψωμο, καματιριά <καυματηρός, καρλα<κλαριά, κατ’λήθρα<*κατουρήθρα or κατρουλήθρα, κουκουσλείθρα (κωλοσείθρα, κουλουθρινίτσα<κωλόρνιθος, π’ρνακόβου <*περιρυακοκόβω, προιη^ίδ’<υπουργός, ρουβός-ρουβά<ραιβός, σαλίμόα<λατ. saliva, σειράδώνοιχσειράδιον, σ’λάρα<*συνιλαρω, σουνάαρίζ’<ταρός, τζάλαβους<άντάλλαβους, τσ’μέλα<σιμίλα, φκάρ’<*κουφάριον, φλαψά<*θαλψιάθάλπω and χαμουλούρδου<χαμολούλουδο.
