The past of the site of the Xystri theme park in Pyrgos, which is the subject of study, is connected to the course of activity of the Elaiourgia S.A. Xystri factory in the early 20th century. The primary objective is to investigate the historical and social context, so as to explain the changes that have taken place in the economic and social life of the place. The demand of the inhabitants of the city for the protection of its abandoned industry buildings has resulted in them being classified as heritage sites. An analysis of the current reality of the public area is carried out with a presentation of the works that have been done in the area in order to upgrade the urban landscape of the city for the quality of life of the inhabitants. Below are perspectives and suggestions for utilizing the emblematic buildings in the future.
Το παρελθόν του χώρου του θεματικού πάρκου Ξυστρή στον Πύργο που είναι αντικείμενο μελέτης είναι συνδεδεμένο με την πορεία δραστηριοποίησης του εργοστασίου Ελαιουργία Α.Ε. Ξυστρή στις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα. Πρωταρχικός στόχος είναι η διερεύνηση του ιστορικού και κοινωνικού πλαισίου για να εξηγηθούν οι αλλαγές που έγιναν στην οικονομική και κοινωνική ζωή του τόπου. Η απαίτηση των κατοίκων της πόλης για την προστασία των εγκαταλελειμμένων κτηρίων της βιομηχανίας είχε ως αποτέλεσμα να χαρακτηριστούν ως μνημεία πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς. Πραγματοποιείται μια ανάλυση της τωρινής πραγματικότητας της δημόσιας περιοχής με παρουσίαση των έργων που έχουν γίνει στον χώρο με σκοπό την αναβάθμιση του αστικού τοπίου της πόλης για την ποιότητα ζωής των κατοίκων. Ακολουθούν προοπτικές και προτάσεις για αξιοποίηση των εμβληματικών κτηρίων στο μέλλον.
