Raw material processing is of great importance in the cement industry from the aspect of reducing energy consumption. The present study compares intergrinding and separate grinding, and determines their respective influences on raw mix burnability. For this purpose a procedure was developed for estimate the fineness of the limestone and clay during intergrinding. It is shown that intergrinding the raw meal is more advantageous than separate grinding as far as both energy consumption and burnability are concerned. It was also observed that limestone has a greater influence than clay on burnability. (EN)
