In our case, this study is realized within the evaluation of the energy performance of an Oil/Chemical Tanker 73500DWT throughout the appraisal of right-efficient use of fuel oil at the Main Engine of the ship. Particularly, a comparison is going to be presented between the real values of Fuel Oil Consumption- FOC and operating speed that are taken from noon reports of the existing ship, and the theoretical-expected values of these two parameters following a logical procedure of ship resistance calculation, and through it, the requested values. For this purpose, the shop trial of Main Engine is used in order to convert the estimated Shaft Horsepower into Fuel Oil Consumption. The procedure is based on the ship hydrodynamics, developed for the aim of calculating the ship’s resistance, and so, the propulsive power. (EL)
