Η ανοικτή θάλασσα είναι περιοχή εκτός εθνικής δικαιοδοσίας και, ως εκ τούτου, υπόκεινται σε διάφορες περιβαλλοντικές απειλές και εκμετάλλευση. Η Συνθήκη Ανοικτής Θάλασσας των Ηνωμένων Εθνών αποσκοπεί στην αντιμετώπιση αυτών των ζητημάτων με τη θέσπιση κατευθυντήριων γραμμών και κανονισμών για τις επιχειρήσεις, την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και τη διαχείριση των θαλάσσιων πόρων. Ωστόσο, υπάρχει έλλειψη συναίνεσης σχετικά με την αποτελεσματικότητα και την εφαρμογή της συνθήκης, και πολλά ζητήματα παραμένουν ανεπίλυτα, όπως η ρύθμιση της εξόρυξης βαθέων υδάτων, η διατήρηση της θαλάσσιας βιοποικιλότητας και η επιβολή των αλιευτικών κανονισμών. The high seas are areas beyond national jurisdiction, and as such, they are subject to various environmental threats and exploitation. The High Seas Treaty of the United Nations aims to address these issues by establishing guidelines and regulations for businesses, environmental protection, and the management of marine resources. However, there is a lack of consensus on the treaty's effectiveness and implementation, and many issues remain unresolved, such as the regulation of deep-sea mining, marine biodiversity conservation, and the enforcement of fishing regulations. This thesis seeks to address these challenges and provide insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the High Seas Treaty. (EN)
