Η διατριβή αυτή εξερευνά την επίδραση της φύσης και του πολιτισμού στο σώμα, τον χαρακτήρα και τη νοημοσύνη, μέσα από το Ιπποκρατικό έργο Περί Αέρων, Υδάτων, Τόπων (Aër). Αναλύει πώς οι περιβαλλοντικοί παράγοντες διαμορφώνουν την ανθρώπινη υγεία και διάθεση, συγκρίνοντας τις απόψεις με τη φιλοσοφία του Αριστοτέλη και τη διαιτητική προσέγγιση στο Περί Διαίτης. Το Aër αποδίδει σημαντικό ρόλο στους νόμους για τη διαμόρφωση του χαρακτήρα, αφήνοντας ωστόσο ασαφή την επίδραση στη νοημοσύνη. Η μελέτη προτείνει ότι οι πολιτιστικοί παράγοντες μπορούν έμμεσα να επηρεάσουν τη νοημοσύνη, ευθυγραμμίζοντας τις ιδέες του Aër με ευρύτερες φιλοσοφικές και ιατρικές προσεγγίσεις για τη σχέση σώματος και νου. This dissertation explores the influence of nature and culture on body, character, and intelligence in the Hippocratic treatise On Airs, Waters, Places (Aër). It analyses how environmental factors shape human health and disposition, comparing views with Aristotle's philosophy and the dietetic approach in On Regimen. Aër attributes a significant role to laws in shaping character but leaves the effects on intelligence unclear. The study suggests that cultural factors can indirectly impact intelligence, aligning Aër’s ideas with broader philosophical and medical approaches to the relationship between body and mind. (EN)
