Within the context of the present doctoral thesis, the fundamental aim of the corresponding study was to investigate the flora, the vegetation and in general the ecology of the Mount Vermion, situated in the area of northern Greece, in conjunction with all relevant factors affecting and exercising influences on the operation of the ecological systems found in the areas under study. In such a way, we have managed to analyze, in detail, the surrounding abiotic environment (geology, topography, climate, hydrology, soil science) as well as the biotic environment (flora, biological forms, phytogeography, vegetation). In particular, as for the aspect of the related flora, the detailed knowledge of the plant communities introduces, implicitly, various problems for the effective management and usage of the ecosystems, and so it contributes to the protection as well as to a possible form of reformation in the future, of the natural environment. In the following analysis, we provide an executive overview of the most important parts of the actual doctoral thesis, as well as the basic conclusions, which have been resulted from the evaluation of the corresponding studies. The discussion and the presented results are given, in a way to follow the description given in the context of the core study.
