Epidemiology of coutaneous melanoma in Greece

724 melanoma patients were studied who visited the clinic for plastic surgery of the General Hospital of Athens «G. Gennimatas». Data such as the gender, the age, the phototype and the site of the primary lesion were analysed. The role of sun radiation was examined in relation to the development of the lesion, also the development of melanoma on pre-existing nevus. Conclusions for the survival of the patients were obtained in relation to the histologic type of the tumor; the gender, the age, the site, the thickness of the tumor, the level of invasion and the prognostic factors.
Στην παρούσα διατριβή μελετήθηκαν 724 ασθενείς με μελάνωμα που προσήλθαν στη κλινική πλαστικής χειρουργικής του Περιφερειακού Γενικού Νοσοκομείου Αθηνών «Γ. Γεννηματάς» μέχρι τον Νοέμβριου του 2002. Τα προσωπικά, δημογραφικά, κλινικά και ιστολογικά στοιχεία που μελετήθηκαν ήταν το φύλο, η ηλικία του ασθενούς, ο φωτότυπος, η θέση της πρωτοπαθούς εστίας. Διερευνήθηκε ο ρόλος της ηλιακής ακτινοβολίας, η εγκυμοσύνη σαν εκκλητικός παράγοντας, η ανάπτυξη σε προϋπάρχοντα σπίλο και ο ρόλος των δυσπλαστικών σπίλων και των συγγενών σπίλων. Ακολούθως μελετήθηκε η πρόγνωση του μελανώματος λαμβανομένων υπόψιν των προγνωστικών παραγόντων, δηλαδή των στοιχείων που προαναφέρθησαν.
