Σκοπός της διατριβής είναι ο προσδιορισμός των παραγόντων που επέδρασαν στις εξαγωγικές επιδόσεις των επιχειρήσεων κατά την πρόσφατη Παγκόσμια Οικονομική Κρίση και η διαμόρφωση προτάσεων εμπορικής πολιτικής. Χρησιμοποιώντας ερωτηματολόγιο, πραγματοποιήθηκαν ατομικές συνεντεύξεις σχετικά με διάφορες πτυχές της κρίσης σε δείγμα ελλήνων εξαγωγέων. Η έρευνα πεδίου δημιούργησε ένα σύνολο δεδομένων που περιέχει πληροφορίες για τις επιπτώσεις της κρίσης στις εξαγωγές, τις προοπτικές των εξαγωγικών επιχειρήσεων και τα χαρακτηριστικά τους. Η οικονομετρική ανάλυση αναδεικνύει τους παράγοντες που αποθάρρυναν τις εξαγωγές και καταλήγει στο συμπέρασμα ότι ο αντίκτυπος της κρίσης δεν ήταν ίδιος ανάμεσα σε εταιρείες με διαφορετικά χαρακτηριστικά. Διάφοροι οικονομικοί παράγοντες αξιολογούνται για τις επιπτώσεις τους στην εξαγωγική δραστηριότητα των επιχειρήσεων. Επιπλέον, η ανάλυση εξετάζει το ρόλο της αρνητικής ψυχολογίας της αγοράς και της αναβολής της οικονομικής δραστηριότητας λόγω της αβεβαιότητας στην εξαγωγική δραστηριότητα των επιχειρήσεων κατά τη διάρκεια της κρίσης.
The aim of the thesis is to identify factors which influenced exporting firms' performance during the recent global financial crisis and to provide trade policy recommendation. Α questionnaire has been used to interview a sample of Greek exporters about various aspects of the crisis. The survey generated a dataset that contains information about the crisis impact on exports and the prospects of exporting firms along with their characteristics. The econometric analysis highlights the factors that discouraged exports and concludes that the crisis's impact was uneven across firms of different attributes. Several financial factors are assessed for their impact on firms' exporting activity. Furthermore, the analysis examines the role of negative market psychology and the postponement of economic activities due to the uncertainty for their impact on firms' exporting activity during the crisis.
