The last years the discussion on the common space and the new enclosures is becoming increasingly popular among several scholars and urban social movements. However, until now, there are few attempts that seek to articulate the spatialities of the commons with the multiple systems of domination and discrimination in the fields of gender, nation, class and culture through an intersectional and postcolonial point of view.The purpose of this thesis is to systematize and to examine in a comparative way the different approaches on the commons and through the discourse on the conceptualization of space it is sought the characteristics of the Common Space. How is the Common Space constituted, emerged and expanded and conversely how is it dissasembled and shrinked; which is the relationship between the common with both the global and the local; how are the different commons communicated, circulated and intersected and how are the enclosing procedures contested and subverted.Through the above dialectic between the Common Space and its enclosures, this thesis seeks to illuminate and interpret the global land grabbing procedures, the neoliberal urban policies of gentrification, creative city and city branding, as well as the policies of land titling in improvised settlements. Moreover, it examines the role of the state in the control and regulation of the commons. Furthermore, the thesis seeks to enrich the features of the Common Space through the praxis of urban social movements, urban uprisings and social struggles. Finally, through the prism of the Common Space the aim of this thesis is to interpret the social mobilizations and the spatial enclosures policies at a local level and especially in Greece during the current crisis
Τα τελευταία χρόνια η συζήτηση σχετικά με τον κοινό χώρο και τις νέες περιφράξεις έχει γίνει ιδιαίτερα δημοφιλής μεταξύ πλήθος μελετητών καθώς και κοινωνικών κινημάτων πόλης. Ωστόσο, έως τώρα, λίγες είναι οι προσπάθειες που επιδιώκουν να συνδέσουν με διαθεματικό και μεταποικιακό τρόπο τις χωρικότητες των κοινών με τα ποικίλα συστήματα καταπίεσης και διακρίσεων στα πεδία του φύλου, του έθνους, της τάξης και της κουλτούρας. Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας είναι να συστηματοποιήσει και να εξετάσει με συγκριτικό τρόπο τις διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις σχετικά με τα κοινά και μέσω της συζήτησης για την εννοιολόγηση του χώρου αναζητούνται τα χαρακτηριστικά του Κοινού Χώρου. Πώς συγκροτείται, αναδύεται και διαστέλλεται ο Κοινός Χώρος και αντίστροφα αποσυγκροτείται και συρρικνώνεται, ποιά είναι η σχέση του κοινού με το παγκόσμιο και το τοπικό, πώς επικοινωνούν, κυκλοφορούν και διασταυρώνονται μεταξύ τους διαφορετικά κοινά και πώς αμφισβητούνται και ανατρέπονται οι διαδικασίες περίφραξής τους; Μέσα από την παραπάνω διαλεκτική του Κοινού Χώρου και της περίφραξής του, η εργασία επιδιώκει να συμβάλει στο να φωτιστούν και να ερμηνευτούν οι παγκόσμιες διαδικασίες υφαρπαγής της γης, οι νεοφιλελεύθερες αστικές πολιτικές εξευγενισμού, δημιουργικής πόλης και city branding, όπως επίσης και οι πολιτικές τιτλοποίησης των αυτοσχέδιων οικισμών. Επιπλέον, εξετάζεται ο ρόλος του κράτους στον έλεγχο και τη ρύθμιση των κοινών. Παράλληλα η εργασία επιδιώκει να εμπλουτίσει τα χαρακτηριστικά του Κοινού Χώρου μέσα από τις πράξεις κοινωνικών κινημάτων πόλης, αστικών εξεγέρσεων και κοινωνικών αγώνων. Τέλος, μέσα από το πρίσμα του Κοινού Χώρου σκοπός της εργασίας είναι να ερμηνεύσει τις κοινωνικές κινητοποιήσεις και τις πολιτικές χωρικών περιφράξεων σε τοπικό επίπεδο και ειδικότερα στην Ελλάδα την περίοδο της τρέχουσας κρίσης
