Description

This is a working class love song. The verses are rhyming couplets in fifteen syllable iambic meter, the second line augmented by the (oriental) interjection - aman aman - and repeated. While the melodic unit for the first line is limited to the higher tetrachord based on D, the second exploits the whole range, and the descending melodic line displays the characteristic attraction of B (which becomes B flat) to the succeding note into which it is resolved. In all three verses the male and the female voice move in parallel fifths. (EL)
