The purpose of this work is to shed some light on the characteristics of the growth experienced in Greece during the first eighty years of its existence. In this respect it is argued that Greece appears to have experienced a rather moderate growth in per-capita terms during this period. Furthermore, assuming a steady state economy, there are indications that education expenditure played a relatively important role in the process. (EN)
