This Ph.D. thesis titled "The influence of the English language upon the translation of special terminology into the Greek language" was elaborated in the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting of the Ionian University, having as its primary aim to identify and catalog the special terminology with the intention to explore both the size of the influence of the English language upon the Greek one and secondly the case the influence between the two languages ​​to be interactive in some scientific fields. It includes the results and conclusions of research which was conducted using corpora in the scientific fields of economics, environmental sciences and biosciences. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of the research results leads to the export of very interesting general and specific conclusions regarding the influence not only of the English terminology upon the selected scientific fields, but also of the Greek language as well as the interaction between them.
Η παρούσα διδακτορική διατριβή με θέμα «Η επιρροή της αγγλικής γλώσσας στη μετάφραση ειδικής ορολογίας προς την ελληνική» εκπονήθηκε στο ΤΞΓΜΔ του Ιόνιου Πανεπιστημίου με σκοπό τον εντοπισμό και καταλογογράφηση της ειδικής ορολογίας αποσκοπώντας στη διερεύνηση αφενός του μεγέθους της επιρροής της αγγλικής γλώσσας επί της ελληνικής και αφετέρου της υπόθεσης η επιρροή μεταξύ των δύο γλωσσών να είναι αμφίδρομη σε κάποιον επιστημονικό τομέα. Περιλαμβάνει τα αποτελέσματα και συμπεράσματα της έρευνας που διεξήχθη, χρησιμοποιώντας σώματα κειμένων στα επιστημονικά πεδία των οικονομικών επιστημών, των επιστημών του περιβάλλοντος και των βιοεπιστημών. Η ποσοτική και ποιοτική ανάλυση των αποτελεσμάτων της έρευνας οδηγεί στην εξαγωγή πολύ ενδιαφερόντων γενικών και ειδικών συμπερασμάτων όσον αφορά στην επιρροή όχι μόνο της αγγλικής στην ορολογία των επιλεχθέντων επιστημονικών πεδίων, αλλά και της ελληνικής γλώσσας, καθώς και στη μεταξύ τους αλληλεπίδραση.
